A New Site for My Photography of Women
August 21, 2015
Over the last year or so I have experimented with many forms of photography and, while it has been an adventure, I have found that some results have left me feeling empty. I have even contemplated giving up photography as a major activity, feeling that often the reward did not match the effort and commitment that I give it. Without direction, it is easy to get dragged into whatever path others want of you. I produced images that were attractive, technically sound, and pleased others. But often they did not move me.
A retreat at Image Explorations, lead by Laurie Klein, helped me clarify what really excited me, and what was superficially attractive, but ultimately unsatisfying.
This website is intended to showcase that desired direction… for my photography of women. There are other strands of work that I love and will still follow – capturing perspectives of the world near and far, and they will appear in a different site. I hope this one conveys a sense of feminine mystery and magic – something that has always intrigued me.
Explore the various galleries in the site to gain an understanding of my work and style. In this journal, I will be posting samples of important shoots, showcasing other photographers and artists that I admire, providing my perspective on the process of photography of women, and even, at time, advice! I hope you enjoy the journey.
